Another amazing opportunity about being a Teaching Fellow at Coastal Carolina University is the experiences you get each year that you are a fellow as you progress through college. This includes Freshmen Experience, Sophomore Experience, Junior Experience/Conference, and Senior Hill Day. Please read below to find out more about each of these experiences that our fellows are able to have.
Freshmen Experience:
During their freshmen year, fellows have a weekend in the fall semester that allows them to get to know one another. There is a committee that is in charge of planning the team building activities that the fellows will do. They always have a great time bonding and learn a lot.
Sophomore Experience:
There has been a recent change. Sophomores used to have a Conference they attended rather than an "experience" but Juniors and Sophomores have switched. In the past, Juniors have visited schools in New York City for their experience. This may look a bit different now.
Junior Experience/Conference:
Just like previously stated, sophomore and juniors experience/conference has flipped. This means Juniors will attend a conference to learn more about the teaching profession. In the past, these conferences have been local and the conferences last a whole weekend.
Senior Hill Day:
The Senior fellows get to travel together to Columbia, South Carolina. They get to hear a presentation from a representative and then they travel to the house to be introduced to the House. In another trip to Columbia, they hear a presentation and are introduced to the Senate.
